Engagement Photography Session FAQs

Why is an engagement session important?
An engagement shoot will help you understand what to expect on the wedding day. You will learn a little about posing and the shooting pace. It’s a great time to get photos done for your “save-the-date” cards, a wedding slideshow, signature frame, guest book album. It’s also nice to have professional photos of the two of you not in wedding attire.

How much does an engagement shoot cost?
Engagement shoots are $595 and include the session and all the 40 of your favorite images in high resolution. You can choose up to 2 locations around Montreal. There is no limit on the time but plan to spend about an hour to 1.5 hrs in the session.

Where should we do our photo shoot?
I can recommend lots of beautiful locations in Montreal. But it’s also nice to do the photos in a place that meaningful to you. Maybe where you first met or where you like to spend time on the weekends. These photos will be a beautiful reminder of this special time leading up to the wedding.

When is the best time for an engagement shoot?
The best light is in the morning or late afternoon (about 2-3 hrs before sunset). Every season has its own unique lighting and quality. I especially like the fall for engagement shoots. I just love the layers and textures fo the clothing. The crisp fall air and the beautiful golden afternoon light.

How long does an engagement shoot last?
I recommend between 1-1.5 hrs for an engagement session. This can include travel to a second location.

Will you tell us how to pose?
Yes, I always give clear directions and suggestions for the photos. I like to shoot a mix of posed and candid photos. Only I can see what’s in the lens so I’m going to give you the guidance and directions so you will have the best photos.

Can we bring our dog to the photo shoot?
For sure! I love that idea. It’s a nice idea to have someone there to take the dog after we’ve done some photos, so you can continue with the session without worrying about the dog.

Do you offer Engagement Sessions in Studio?
For the moment, all engagement sessions are being offered outdoors in order to respect Quebec Covid restrictions and recommendations.

What should we wear for engagement photo session?
This question deserves its own article! I always say “business casual” is a nice look. But honestly if wear what you feel good in, the photos will be great.
Clothes should fit well. Avoid bold patterns. Layers are always nice. And a pop of colour is always nice. My favourite accent colour is red (romantic, unexpected, bold and always in style)
